Talk for the Embroiderers’ Guild

Zenzie Tinker will give an illustrated talk to Arundel & District Branch of the Embroiderer’s Guild at 2.00pm – 3.30pm on 28 October 2020 entitled, ‘A Textile Conservation Studio in Brighton’. The talk will introduce the concept of textile conservation and then focus on embroidery related projects undertaken by Zenzie’s studio such as the spectacular embroidered Onslow state bed from National Trust property Clandon Park.

Patchwork Study Day

As part of our Craft & Create programme we will be hosting a study day focusing on English patchwork. Come and join us for a wonderful day of patchwork crafting inspired by real historic pieces, delicious food and a relaxed atmosphere – what more could you want before the Christmas rush?
We will kick off with a talk on the history and conservation of English patchwork with guest speaker, curator Edwina Ehrman, Victoria & Albert Museum and conservator Zenzie Tinker, followed by a chance to gain inspiration from historic patchwork in our Study Collection. Then after lunch an afternoon of patchwork making, led by our conservators. Craft & Create patchwork pin cushion kits will be available and could even help solve your Christmas gift dilemmas!

Open Studio and professional workshop

To coincide with the ICON Textile and Historic Interiors Section Spring Forum 2021, ‘Out in the Open – The challenges of Displaying & Conserving Textiles on Open Display’, we will be opening our studio for delegates to visit as well as hosting a Back to Basics Adhesives Workshop.

Costume Training Day

Conservators from Zenzie Tinker Conservation will be leading two training sessions for Worthing Theatres and Museum Trust staff and volunteers on the handling and care of costume. Some places may be available for other local museum staff and volunteers. The training sessions will be held at Worthing Museum in their newly opened Costume Research Centre during Spring 2021
